My name is Michael and I am a 23 year old web designer/developer from Norway. I would describe myself as a typical inexperienced newbie in the middle off your basic three-year education run. A little curious, a little confused, and a lot of questions. I don’t know any other languages besides Norwegian and English, and I’ve been interested in way too many things to be the best in any of them. Among my interests is a love for the Japanese culture and the comics, training, food, computers and above all a love for the incredibly amazing feeling you get from finished work, and the creative process that got you there.
This personal blog is about that feeling.
No, I’m lying. This personal blog is dedicated to that feeling. That feeling of creative process and accomplishment. I think it would be hard to write a blog solely about the feeling alone, besides that’s not even what I want to write about. What I do want to write about however, is the web, design, and above all – WordPress.
My first WordPress install
I should say this now, so I don’t give out the wrong message: I am not a WordPress professional – yet!
I’ve been coding websites on and off personally and for clients for about two years, but I’m progressing steadily. I started out learning HTML and CSS – as one should – through teamtreehouse, and other similar sites as I moved along. About 8 months ago I got interested in WordPress and the wonders and possibilities it presents! Ever since I’ve been a silent advocate of the system, and now I feel like I’ve finally arrived at a stage where I’m supposed to speak up! Written in a more elegant manner from my favorite children’s book author:
If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
In this blog I will share my experiences, techniques, problem-solvings, tutorials, aha-moments, and generally any useful information I pick up along the way. I’ll write detailed articles and stay dedicated like a true (web) adventurer. Hopefully we can all learn together, wether you’re a professional or an amateur like me.
So there you have it, my “hello world” and my promise of a great adventure!
